Club Helping To Keep Students on Track With New Program

After closing back in March, the Waltham Boys & Girls Club has reopened its doors for its new School Day Learning Center program.
With the majority of Waltham public school students learning virtually, there’s a need for non-school agencies to assist kids and parents.
The club’s new program offers technical assistance for online learning, as well as social and emotional support and physical activity breaks. Healthy meals, including take-home dinners, are also provided.
“The WBGC remains dedicated to its mission of enabling all young people, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and positive responsible citizens,” said club executive director Erica Young.
The School Day Learning Center program was developed in consultation with community members and Waltham Public Schools, with which the club has a longstanding relationship.
The program follows all CDC, state and local guidelines for the coronavirus, including social distancing, masks and frequent cleaning/disinfecting.
The club is not the only local agency assisting the local school community. The Waltham YMCA has set up a similar program for Waltham kids.
