During freezing temps Saturday, Waltham non-profits teamed up to help 700 local families with turkeys and fresh veggies for Christmas dinner.
Healthy Waltham, the Waltham Lions and Middlesex Human Services Agency (MHSA) filled vehicles at St. Mary’s with groceries―and with the giving spirit of the holiday season.
Volunteers distributed chickens, turkeys, boxed goods and fresh vegetables to people struggling during COVID.

Waltham Police controlled traffic during Saturday’s orderly load-out.
Healthy Waltham has held community food pantries at St. Mary’s since the pandemic struck, distributing hundreds of thousands of pounds of food to more than 12,000 families.
 
 
Other Waltham pantries have also seen―and met―greatly increased demand.
