A Waltham man has been charged with the murder of a South Side man in his residence on Halloween―and it doesn’t appear to have been random.
Jonathan Galindo, 33, was arrested on Sunday in connection with the fatal stabbing of Kevin Fitzgerald, 61.
“Investigators also determined that the defendant was allegedly known to the victim,” said a release from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.
Galindo has been charged with murder and is expected to appear in Waltham District Court on Monday.
On October 31 shortly after 9:00 p.m., Fitzgerald called 911 to report he had been stabbed in his Alder Street residence. He was unable to identify his assailant.
News photographer Peter Lobo said that the victim had been stabbed in the heart, suffering severe injuries.
Waltham Police found Fitzgerald alone. He later died from his injuries after being transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
Authorities asked the public to help identify the suspect.
Investigators reviewed the evidence, including forensic evidence from the scene, to identify Galindo, according to the DA.
