With the winner of the presidential election still undetermined, a group of demonstrators on Waltham Common Wednesday demanded that every ballot be counted.

“Democracy itself is at stake,” said protest organizer Jennifer Rose of Waltham Concerned Citizens.

 

Rose said that President Trump claimed victory on election night and threatened legal action to undermine the count, delegitimizing the integrity of the election.

She added that “Russian dictator Joseph Stalin famously said, ‘It’s not the people who vote that count, it’s the people who count the votes.’ All votes must be counted for an election to be legitimate and before a winner is declared.”

Monday’s demonstration in Waltham was part of larger protests nationwide over ballot counting.
