That was quick. After opening in November 2018, the Residence Inn and Fairfield Inn & Suites at 250 Second Avenue has been sold.
Denver-based Mission Hill Hospitality announced that it acquired the 192-room business from New Hampshire–based Colwen Hotels. The terms were not disclosed.
The dual-branded Marriott concept features an elegant lobby and bar, an indoor pool and other amenities.
The Residence Inn is a “limited service” hotel, intended for short stays, while the Fairfield Inn is extended stay, with full kitchens.
A third company, Island Hospitality, will operate the Residence Inn/Fairfield Inn & Suites Boston Waltham on behalf of Mission Hill.
When the dual-branded hotel opened, the city was in the midst of a hotel boom. Waltham was the third biggest hotel market in the state with more than 2,000 rooms.
But COVID has exacted a bitter toll on the industry, with business travel scaled back drastically and chronic staffing shortages.
