“They are expensive little things because they’re quite expensive to make.”
That’s how Jeane Hoang described the macarons she sells in her new business, Emma’s Macarons, at 248 Moody Street.
Macarons are meringue-based confections made with only four ingredients.
Jeane said Asian flavors (Ube, Pandan Coconut, Matcha) make hers unique, but she also offers more traditional flavors (Earl Gray, Lemon).
There’s also Vanilla Bean, Strawberry, Cookies and Cream, Chocolate, Raspberry and Passionfruit. For us, the must-try was Fruity Cereal. A dozen offers a nice assortment.
Jeane, of Quincy, has been making the confections for roughly 10 years. She has renovated the former Alba Mediterranean Bakery into a chic small business named after her daughter.
Along with enjoying the macarons, customers can snap a selfie in front of a hip balloon arch.
