Waltham Museum to Host Cartoonist Exhibition

In September, the Waltham Museum will host an exhibition of cartoons by a Waltham cartoonist who passed away a few years ago.
Pat Arena was a World War II Navy veteran whose artistic gifts made a broad impact.
For 48 years he worked as a staff cartoonist for Waltham-based Raytheon.
The Waltham native’s cartoons were also published in a newspaper that covered Wayland, Weston and Sudbury.
Over the years, he earned recognition for his work and taught his craft to many adults and children, according to his son Tom.
One of the founders of the Waltham Museum, Pat passed away in 2020. Tom set about going through his dad’s extensive archive.
Some of Pat’s works will be displayed at the Waltham Museum on September 9 and 10 and on Wednesdays and Saturdays for a few weeks after.
“The core of what I’m doing is a profile of his career that he himself curated for the Waltham Public Library,” Tom said.
He added that his dad’s cartoons reflected his dry sense of humor.
Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.
