Authorities are asking for the public’s help in the fatal stabbing of a 61-year-old Waltham man Saturday night.
The man called 911 shortly after 9:00 p.m. on October 31.
“The victim, identified as Kevin Fitzgerald, reported to police that he had been attacked by a man that he was unable to identify,” said a release from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.
Waltham Police located Fitzgerald alone in his residence at 81 Alder Street, where he had been attacked.
He had been stabbed in the chest, suffering severe wounds, according to news photographer Peter Lobo.
Fitzgerald was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital where he died from his injuries.
“At this time it is not known if this attack was random,” said the DA release.
No arrests have been made, and authorities are asking for the public’s help.
Investigators believe the suspect may have been seen in the area shortly before the assault.
