Retired WFD Deputy Chief Michael J. Quinn, the father of two Waltham firefighters, died unexpectedly on Wednesday.

His obituary said the husband and father, formerly of Waltham, fell ill at his home in Harvard and subsequently passed away. He was 71.

Mike was a Waltham firefighter for more than 35 years, retiring in 2014.

Two of his sons, Tim and Mike, Jr., are Waltham Fire lieutenants.

Deputy Quinn is survived by his wife Karen, a third son, additional family and friends, according to his obituary.
