Fourth of July fireworks in Waltham will take place on Canada Day, eh. And on the river, not at Leary Field.
The City of Waltham’s annual Independence Day Celebration will happen on July 1 and 2, not July 4.
Fireworks will be set off from a barge set up in the Charles River near the Moody Street Bridge. The display will begin at dusk on Friday, July 1.
The bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and open to pedestrian traffic only starting at 5:00 p.m.
The city has a list of recommended viewing sites [see link below], but the best vantage point will be from the Moody Street Bridge.
The celebration will continue on Saturday, July 2 at Prospect Hill Park. There will be free music, amusements, games and more for the whole family from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
