Pump Promo Raises More Than $7k for French Club

Main Street Gulf raised $7,100 to help reopen the French American Victory Club on Elm Street.

The French Club has been closed for eight months, with no hall rentals or alcohol sales, but still required to pay its mortgage and bills every month.

Gas station owner George Michael (photo) set aside $1 from every pump sale at 821 Main Street from October 19 to October 29 to help.

The French American Victory Club was founded in 1944 and celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2019.

Its website describes it as “a social men’s and women’s club that preserves French Canadian and Acadian heritage and welcomes all nationalities.”

“It is also a charitable organization that promotes and supports community needs through volunteer efforts.”
