Waltham was once again named a Tree City by the Arbor Day Foundation for “its commitment to effective urban forest management.”
To earn the distinction for 2021, Waltham maintained its tree board, enforced a tree ordinance, kept a forestry budget of at least $2 per capita and hosted an Arbor Day observance in April.
“The trees being planted and cared for by Waltham ensure that generations to come will enjoy a better quality of life,” said a release from the Nebraska-based foundation.
Trees have many benefits, from keeping cities cool and reducing energy costs to encouraging biodiversity and increasing property values.
