Around 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, a fisherman on a boat near Woerd Avenue detected something with his fish finder that looked like a car.

After Waltham Fire responded, the Massachusetts State Police (MSP) Marine Unit and Underwater Recovery Team was called in.

A tow truck with a long cable eventually pulled the station wagon out of the Charles River. No one was discovered inside.

MSP Trooper Brandon Doherty offered an update Tuesday.

“The vehicle recovered was a 2001 Volvo station wagon which was reported stolen some time ago,” he said.

Incredibly enough, the same Wellesley fisherman found another car with his fish finder last year.
