With most of the steel work on the new Waltham High School complete, project officials hosted a topping off ceremony last Thursday at 554 Lexington Street.
Topping off events are a tradition in the construction industry, involving the installation of a ceremonial steel beam at the highest point in the building.
The topping off marks a major milestone in the $374 million project, which is set to finish up in mid-2024.
Project officials who helped plan and design the new school appeared alongside workers, including some from Waltham, who have helped to make it a reality.
